Orbit-Transfer Torque Driven Field-Free Switching of Perpendicular Magnetization

The reversal of perpendicular magnetization (PM) by electric control is crucial for high-density integration low-power magnetic random-access memory. Although the spin-transfer torque and spin-orbit technologies have been used to switch a free layer with anisotropy, former has limited endurance because high current density directly through junction, while latter requires an external field or unconventional configuration break symmetry. Here we propose realize orbit-transfer (OTT), that is, exerting on using orbital moments, thus demonstrate new strategy current-driven PM without field. polarization moments generated direct in few-layer WTe 2 due existence nonzero Berry curvature dipole, direction can be switched changing polarity. Guided this principle, construct /Fe 3 GeTe heterostructures achieve OTT driven field-free deterministic switching PM.
